House in McCormack St made visible

The house and magnolia tree have gone, and the new incarnation of 220 Esplanade East has begun. To read the planning history of this site, put 220 Esplanade East in the search box of Port Houses.

7 & 8 February 2011

VCAT Reference No: P2558/2010
Application No: 166/2010

VCAT set aside the Council's refusal of this application. (Council officers had supported its approval).

VCAT noted that 'there is no heritage value in the building to be demolished'.

An unfulfilled conditon of the permit was that two trees, Angophora costata, should be planted in the median strip.

Several silky oaks were felled at the rear of the development site and this was to make up for the loss of trees through the development.
