Heritage protection for significant elements of the former Rootes/Chrysler factory moved one step closer at the Port Phillip Council meeting of 1 November when the Council accepted the recommendations of the Panel considering Amendment C143.

The Panel supported the protection of the 1943 and 1941 elements of the building on site (see below) - that includes the administration building to which internal controls will also apply. The 1955 era buildings did not meet the significance criteria.

The final step is to secure Ministerial approval for the amendment.
