28 Evans St was the home of former mayor of Port Melbourne, Gordon Lockhart Edwards.
Edwards was elected to the Port Melbourne Council in 1972 and was mayor in 1975/76. His wife Jessie died at South Port Community Residential Home in 2011 after a life time of service in the Port Melbourne community - especially with the Peter Mac Auxilliary.
