Cladding is being replaced on the development.
July 2011
84 - 88 Dow St, July 2011 |
Work has begun on 86 to 88 Dow St, Port Melbourne. The site has been vacant for about two years. The application, refused by Council, was supported at VCAT. The decision is one of several by VCAT for the area south of Graham St, where the Tribunal has preferred the growth direction of the City of Port Phillip's planning scheme above the sensitivity to the heritage buildings to the east. The development will be over 5 levels and contain 23 dwellings with basement carpark.
Is there anyone out there who is frustrated with the length of time (i.e. delays) with the build of 88 Dow Street?
ReplyDeleteThe timing of these developments always seem a bit of a mystery to me. They stop and start for reasons that are never explained. Life in Dow St has been pretty difficult. Maybe its good that this site and Waterside are not going full ball at the same time?
ReplyDeleteHi Janet,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it must be pretty miserable for the existing residents of Dow St, I do sympathise. We were hoping to be residents in March this year, however, 88 Dow St isn't due to be completed until May 2013 now (a year and 2 months after it was originally scheduled). Which is really frustrating for us having paid the deposit 2 years ago....
Thanks for letting us know when it is due for completion. The basement is pretty deep - took a long while to excavate. Once they come out of the ground, it goes quicker. When Waterside is finished - I think that will be soon - one side of Dow St at least will be finished.
